The following information is a general overview. These are base prices that start with an ambient background. Prices are affected by the further amount of detail and changes from one project to the next. Only after we discuss the details of the project can a final price be determined. Visit my Portfolio of Works - Portraits page to get a sense of the cost for a variety of portrait styles.                           BASE PRICE SCHEDULE 2010 (CDN Dollars) Pencil on Paper : Prices start at $100 for a 5"x7" Oil on Canvas : Prices start at $300 for a 5"x7" Starting prices include one person, head and base of neck 75% for each additional figure 25 - 75% additional charge for detailed background Prices increase as the size and/or the amount of figure portrayed increases (this will be discussed and decided at the onset) Contact me for more details via my Contact page or at 416-534-8471 PROCEDURE In Person - A photo session of approximately one hour will be held at client's convenience.  I will then review the photographs with the client and suggest a composition and size. A due date will be set for the portrait. Online - If you live outside Toronto or there is little room in your schedule to meet with me, we can do the whole process via email and phone. If you have photos which I can choose from, then you can email me the jpegs and we can go from there - this is a good option if the portrait is a surprise gift. If you don't have current photos and you're not sure where to start, I can send you a list of tips that will provide some pointers. This option is often a great solution if the subject is not very comfortable having a stranger take their picture - email me for my list of tips. Once we go over the photos and discuss the options the portrait can be started. PAYMENT Portraits can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months depending on the style and degree of complexity. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required when confirmation is made and I begin work on the portrait. The balance is due upon completion and acceptance. The initial deposit will secure a place on my calendar and I will stay in regular contact with you as we move along. The deposit is non-refundable not only because it pays for the materials used to create your portrait but also the time I've put into it along with reserving space for you in my calendar. GUARANTEE The portrait is guaranteed to represent the likeness in the photographs and therefore the pictures are of utmost importance. If there are no satisfactory pictures obtained from the photo session, the client may request an additional session. The client also has the option to provide pictures for the portrait to me. If after receiving your portrait you are not entirely satisfied with the finished product you will be under no obligation to keep it.  I offer a 30 day money back guarantee on all my commissions less deposit.
